A case of severe thrombocytopenia in association with a wandering spleen

Abstract
Wandering spleen (ectopic spleen) is a very rare disease, and wandering spleen with thrombocytopenia is rarely reported. A splenectomy is the treatment of choice, and it's result is good. We experienced a case of wandering spleen with severe thrombocytopenia in 15-year-old boy. He was diagnosed with the abdominal sonography and abdominal CT scaning. A splenectomy was performed, and then the thrombocytopenia was disappear. After splenectomy, he was well being. Therefore, we report this case with a brief review of literature.(Korean J Med 69:S924-S928, 2005)
