Abstract
Escherichia fergusonii belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae and is closely related to Escherichia coli. E. fergusonii has been isolated from the diarrheal stool of animals and from human blood, urine, and feces. However, it is a very rare pathogen, and little is known about infection by this organism. We describe a case of E. fergusonii bacteremia with septic shock in a neutropenic patient.
