Abstract |
Fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose positron-emission tomography (FDP-PET) is a useful imaging study to define the extent of disease, the response to previous treatment and to detection recurrent disease for many kinds of malignancy.
For the evaluation of an asymptomatic hepatic mass, FDG-PET can be performed to differentiate malignancy from benign lesion or to evaluate the presence of undetected metastatic disease. It may sometimes be difficult to suspect malignancy on a routine diagnostic work-up or to approach the lesion for biopsy, and FDG-PET may have a role in the evaluation of an asymptomatic hepatic mass. We report here on 2 cases of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma for which FDG-PET gave definite support for the evaluation of asymptomatic
hepatic masses.(Korean J Med 72:S126-S131, 2007)
