Abstract
Pheochromocytoma is a rare catecholamine secreting neuroendocrine tumor that causes hypertension and other cardiovascular manifestations such as arrhythmia, acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and cardiomyopathy. Catecholamine-induced cardiomyopathy is characterized by an apical ballooning pattern (Takotsubo cardiomyopathy) by transthoracic echocardiography. Recently, we treated an unusual case of pheochromocytoma that presented with an inverted Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Here we report the case and review the medical literature.(Korean J Med 73:S941-S945, 2007)
