- Abstract
- Pancreatic pseudocysts are common complication of pancreatitis and also have numerous complications such as pain, rupture, hemorrhage, and abscess. As the pancreas and the spleen lie in close proximity, splenic complications may occur in the course of acute or chronic pancreatitis. Patients with splenic involvement by pancreatic pseudocysts may have life-threatening complications including bleeding, infection, splenic vein thrombosis, and infarction. It is not common that brain abscess develops secondary to pancreatic pseudocyst complicated by splenic abscess by means of hematogenous dissemination. We report a case of 31-year-old male patient with multiple brain abscess with splenic abscess due to pancreatic pseudocysts.(Korean J Med 70:S161-S166, 2006)
