- Abstract
- Introduction and Hypothesis : We sought to evaluate the mitral inflow pattern during tachycardia in the patient with
paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). Methods : Mitral inflow pattern was measured in 8 consecutive patients (men
3) underwent electrophysiologic test. The measurement was done during sinus rhythm and paroxysmal tachycardia using
Doppler echocardiography (Sonos 5500, Hewlett-Packard, Andover, Massachesetts, USA). The ventriculo-atrial (VA) interval
was measured between initiation of ventricular activity at the catheter of the right ventricular apex and initiation of atrial activity
at the catheter of the right atrium. Results : The patients were consist of 2 atrioventricular node reentrant tachycardia, 4
concealed bypass tract and 2 Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome. The mean values of the tachycardia cycle length and VA interval
during tachycardia were 379¡¾27 msec and 138¡¾53 msec, respectively. The mean value of the QRS-A velocity interval and
QRS-E velocity interval were 205¡¾65 msec and 328¡¾62 msec, respectively. The VA interval was correlated with the QRS-A
velocity interval (r=0.783, P=0.022). Conclusions : During paroxysmal tachycardia, diastolic filling is initiated by atrial
contraction (A velocity) and the degree of the A velocity onset is correlated with the VA interval in mitral inflow pattern. Figure.
