Abstract
Bezoars are persistent concretions of indigestible materials such as foods or foreign bodies, usually found in the stomach. With a significant development of endoscopic techniques, there are many reports of removal of bezoars using such as endoscopic forceps, snares, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, laser. However, there is no report of treatment of bezoar using argon plasma in Korea yet. Argon plasma coagulation is a monopolar non-contact electrosurgical technique, which allows decreased risk of perforation and tissue damages by no vaporization, minimal carbonization and maintaining constant temperature. We report a case of a 71-year-old man presenting with epigastric pain who had a 11¡¿11¡¿8 cm sized huge gastric phytobezoar found by endoscope. We broke the bezoar to pieces with argon plasma coagulator and then crushed by forceps and extracted the fragments by endoscopic basket. We removed the bezoar safely, without any complication.
