Abstract
Churg-Strauss syndrome is an uncommon systemic vasculitis characterized by asthma, hypereosinophilia, paranasal sinus abnormalities, mono or polyneuropathy, non-fixed pulmonary infiltrates, and extravascular eosinophil infiltration. The gastrointestinal tract is the third most common site, and gastrointestinal involvement is associated with high mortality. Recently, some cases were reported to involve two or more digestive organs. However, there is no report of a case involving the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum simultaneously. We treated a 34-year-old woman with Churg-Strauss syndrome involving the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. She presented with bronchial asthma, peripheral blood eosinophilia, and polyneuropathy. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed multiple esophago-gastric ulcers and duodenal erosions. Histopathological examination showed extravascular eosinophilic infiltrations in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and sural nerve biopsy specimens. Her clinical symptoms improved with high-dose corticosteroids. (Korean J Med 75:S756-S761, 2008)
