- Abstract
- An xanthoma is a localized collection of foamy histiocytes containing lipid. Esophageal xanthoma is very rare, with only five patient cases reported. Endoscopically, esophageal xanthoma appears as yellow granular spots or a slightly elevated lesion. Microscopically, foamy histiocytes are aggregated immediately beneath the squamous epithelium. We experienced this rare condition and describe the endoscopic and microscopic findings of a case of esophageal xanthoma. (Korean J Med 75:S784-S786, 2008)
