Abstract
Pancreatitis or pancreatic trauma is frequently complicated by pancreatic pseudocysts, while extra-pancreatic pancreatic pseudocysts are uncommon and intrahepatic pseudocysts are rare. Recently, with the development of diagnostic imaging tools and radiologic interventional techniques, the incidence of intrahepatic pseudocysts has increased, but reports are still rare. We discovered an intrahepatic cystic lesion on computed tomography in a 24-year-old female with acute aggravation of chronic pancreatitis. The fluid collected by percutaneous puncture contained high levels of amylase and lipase, confirming that the intrahepatic cystic lesion was an intrahepatic pseudocyst. Symptomatic intrahepatic pseudocysts can be managed with percutaneous, endoscopic, or surgical drainage, while asymptomatic intrahepatic pseudocysts can be treated conservatively. Our patient was critically ill with an infected pseudocyst, and underwent immediate percutaneous pseudocyst drainage. The result was good and we report this case with a review of the literature.
