- Abstract
- Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is an acute febrile disease characterized by high fever, headache, ocular pain,
flank pain, and renal failure. Ocular signs and symptoms are common in HFRS, but the association with glaucoma is not well
known. A 53‐year‐old male with HFRS presented with ocular pain, blurred vision, conjunctival injection, and renal failure on
admission. He showed increased ocular pressure (38/38 mmHg) on the first day in hospital and was diagnosed with acute closed angle
glaucoma. His condition improved after conservative management with acetazolamide from the second hospital day. We report
a rare case of HFRS complicated with acute closed angle glaucoma. We suggest that acute closed angle glaucoma can be a complication
of HFRS at an early stage. (Korean J Med 77:S1274-S1277, 2009)
